CITIZEN ADS

Today, we witnessed the birth of a new phenomenon........CITIZEN ADS
PHIL DE VELLIS used this term by coming out , ie disclosing that he was the one who created that ad Parkridge47 about Hillary Clinton.
The idea of Democracy , or the belief in Democracy is the reason for this new political creativity.
It is a welcome one.
However , it would be wonderful if those CITIZEN ADS would concentrate on DEMOCRATIC ISSUES necessary for the well being of the citizenry, and not so much on bashing candidates.
People should concentrate on what the candidates should do for the people .........government of the people for the people.
If these citizen ads concentrate alone on bashing or promoting candidates , it will divert attention from the most important issues like Health care and education reform, and a good reform of social security that will mend the system and not abolish it with privatization ideas.

DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT part 1

I often hear the President and other POLITICIANS say that the most important duty of government is to PROTECT THE PEOPLE.
SURE , this is the truth, but NOT THE WHOLE TRUTH !!!
HOWEVER ,
A GOVERNMENT THAT WOULD LIKE TO BE CALLED DEMOCRATIC HAS CERTAIN DUTIES TOWARDS ITS CITIZENS.
1-EQUAL OPPORTUNIES IN EDUCATION IS ESSENTIAL PUBLIC SYSTEM
2-EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN POLITICAL ACTIVITIES AND ELECTIONS.
3- BECAUSE IT COLLECTS TAXES, IT SHOULD ALSO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE. health care is a basic human need , and a basic human right. It is not the duty of employers to pay for health care for their employees..........it is the government's duty to figure out a basic health care for all.

2-GM AND FORD motor company are really bankrupt because of the cost of health care , almost $ 1,500 Us dollars of the price of cars is due to that expense
STARBUCKS CEO also said that they pay more for health care than the price of Coffee.

Democracy or Democratic society ?

I CAN NOW DECLARE THAT I DO BELIEVE IN A "DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY".
DEMOCRATIC , IS AN ADJECTIVE .........A QUALITY that deserves respect, because it itself teaches Respect for other people's points of views.
It is even impossible to have a Democratic society , in a land where people have not acquired this quality, this desirable attitude.
A democratic government provides the following as part of the democratic process.
1- Freedom of Speech
2- Freedom of the Press
3- Freedom of religion
4- freedom of association

I have learned to develop a healthy skeptical attitude toward any political entity. whether it be a politician, a political party or group or simply a political person ie the average voter.
I do not see any reason to convince me that ANY of the above could be INFALLIBLE or correct all the time or even 100% correct sometime.
In short , I do not think that when a Poll declares that 60% of the people think we are losing the Iraq war , it is necessarily right. People can be wrong , even 60% of them.
Likewise , when the popularity of the President is low or high, it does not mean to me that he is 100% wrong or right . Even an unpopular President can be right sometimes on some issue.
The duty of Citizens is to think critically at all times and research the issue at hand. I do not think that the majority of people have the time or interest to do so, therefore their opinion may not be 100% RELIABLE.....OR TRUSTWORTHY.
"PEOPLE KNOW BEST " "fATHERS KNOW BEST" "THE PRESIDENT KNOWS BEST"
SORRY, NO ONE SHOULD BUY THAT 1OO% OF THE TIME.!!!
BLIND BELIEF IS SUICIDE in a democratic society.

It has been said that America is an IDEA.............what kind of Idea could that be ?
I believe that IDEA was nothing but the WISH to create the best system of government in the world.
That WISH later became possible when the Founding Fathers acquired the WILL to do so.
It started with the Declaration of Independence Dec.4 1776 and then the Constitution. March 4 1789
Later , The Bill of Rights and other amendments happened as needed.
This Idea to create the best system of government implies that according to changes or problems that time may bring, amendments or improvements to the system should be considered.
As you may have heard , certain people want to ammend the constitution to define marriage as a union between man and woman..............others want amendments to make the system become more democratic.
In Alliance for America, I do not concern myself with these matters.
What I am concerned with is exclusively the Prestige of America and how we can come closer to that IDEA which is the IDEAL GOVERNMENT.
And all that is required of others is to be in agreement with the above goal. Also perhaps the realization that the political parties available to we , the people are not perfectly satisfactory.

I received a comment , and realized that perhaps I had not stated my line properly, so I will correct it in this fashion :
DEMOCRACY CAN LEAD TO GOOD RESULTS , OR BAD RESULTS, DEPENDING OF THE MINDSET OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MAJORITY RULE.
We had the opportunity to witness this recently, when the Republican Party had majority rule for 12 years. So I think I can claim my above statement to be fairly correct.

ON DEMOCRACY part 1

The GREEKS invented DEMOCRACY.
DEMO = people CRACY= power so, DEMOCRACY = PEOPLE'S POWER
BUT PEOPLE'S POWER TO DO WHAT ? obviously to do many many things . Some may be good , others bad.
THAT IS THE QUESTION : what will the people do, or how will they use that power ?
Those who think DEMOCRACY will lead to MOB RULE, obviously do not think well of people.
Those who tend to trust more, think Democracy is the best system invented by mankind.
SO, I WOULD LIKE TO STATE SIMPLY THAT : IF GOOD PEOPLE GET POWER, THEN THE OUTCOME MAY BE GOOD.
BUT IF BAD PEOPLE OBTAIN POWER, THE RESULT MAY BE HORRIFIC.
SO I REFRAIN FROM PUTTING MY STAMP OF APPROVAL BLINDLY ON DEMOCRACY, PER SE.
THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS, AND I WANT TO SEE THE DETAILS FIRST.

On US DEMOCRACY

This morning at 9:17 am a lady called C-Span journal and among the words she uttered were the following :
" America is not a Democracy,, it is a Republic ............We are not a Democracy, Mob Rule. "
The last 2 words were pronounced as if she equated Democracy with mob rule.
Unfortunately, I did not see which town she was calling from. But the above quotes are exactly her words.
Of course I had heard the same words before too. But today I want to write it down here, so I can ask a question.
Is Democracy really MOB RULE ??
