My ideal form of government is, of course, a constitutional direct democracy with rules established that protect both majorities and minorities from being tyrannized by the other. Of course, a variety of enumerated individual rights are also quite important, but without equal political power to protect those rights, they are only good as long as the rulers choose to let you have them. Only in a society with no rulers (anarchy) wherein we all share equally in all political decision-making (democracy) can we really have and protect our rights and liberties.

If you want more specifics, you can read my blog at http://realdemocracy.wordpress.com or read through the comments at the yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/real-democracy.

FAIR ENOUGH.
BUT WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE THIS GOVERNMENT DO ?
WHAT ISSUES, WOULD YOU LIKE THEM TO WORK ON TO IMPROVE THE PEOPLE'S LIVES ?
OR WHAT SOCIAL PROBLEMS WOULD YOU LIKE OR EXPECT THEM TO SOLVE. ??

YOUR BLOG IS INTERESTING AND SHOWS YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR REAL DEMOCRACY ; AND HOW TO GET THERE.

I AM CONCERNED WITH NOT HOW TO GET THERE , BUT ONCE WE ARE THERE, WHAT WOULD WE DO OR WANT DONE.

FOR EXEMPLE, I PERSONALLY CANNOT ADMIRE A GOVERNMENT THAT DOES NOT SOMEHOW PROVIDE THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR EDUCATION FOR ALL.

I BELIEVE THAT EACH RIGHT GIVEN, ALSO REQUIRES A POSITIVE EFFORT ON THE PART OF THE RECIPIENT.
THAT IS MERITOCRACY.
EACH RIGHT COMES WITH A DUTY.
