GRIDLOCK

way back before the DEMS had won in 2008 , ( although I am not a registered democrat but an unaffuliated independent since 2004) , I hoped that the Democratic party would get a VETO PROOF ( supermajority )..................the REASON was that :

AMERICA has many problems and with a DIVIDED GOVERNMENT ie ( neither Rep or Dem having all 3 branches of the GOV )...................WE WOULD HAVE GRIDLOCK and we could NOT SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS.

SO we got lucky and the DEMS got all 3 branches and a supermajority ..................BUT WHAT I DID NOT KNOW was that the DEMOCRATS are a DIVIDED PARTY.

I did not know then , that the SENATE had some odd rule that would allow ONE SINGLE SENATOR .,.....to become A DICTATOR with the threat of a fillibuster, or otherwise.

AS DANIEL SCHORR of NPR said it so well after LIEBERMANN stopped the expansion of Medicare for 55 year olds..............

THIS IS THE TYRANNY OF THE .....MINORITY !!!!

remember how the right wingers thought DEMOCRACY was the TYRANNY of the MAJORITY ???
i would go further and say that it is really the Dictatorship of the minority or even worse the DICTATORSHIP of ONE SENATOR !!

IMPORTANT NOTE :

since the Democratic party is a so called BIG TENT that comprises moderates right wingers and left wingers .................they are already DIVIDED and we actually have A DIVIDED GOVERNMENT ....................then we do not have to create check and balance by having another party named Republican party which DOES NOT BELIEVE in Government anyway............so there is no place for them in the FEDERAL GOV.

i am reading this again and I find that I may not have been very clear.
so I am adding this :

America has problems , these problems need to be solved....ie

AMERICA needs SOLUTIONS..............................so can a PARTY which Believes the GOVERNMENT is the PROBLEM and NOT the SOLUTION even have any RIGHT to want to CAPTURE Government ????

my advice to the GOP.............cool down, let those who believe in GOVERNING do the heavy lifting.
